VIVATECH CONVENTION IN PARIS FEATURES NEWEST DEVELOPMENTS IN AIThursday, May 24th marked the first day of the 2018 VIVA TECHNOLOGY CONVENTION in the Porte de Versailles district of Paris, France. VivaTech features the newest developments and innovations from startups around the world, as well as Fortune 500 companies like Google, Microsoft, and Airbus, among others. The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, opened the conference by praising France’s efforts to enable startups and cultivate innovation. President Macron announced that in autumn, the government will reveal plans to “further the excellence of French research.” France will also set a clear policy for healthcare innovations, enabling more biotech startups to efficiently navigate within the regulations. FLYING CARS ARE REAL! innovationAirbus partnered with Audi to develop their newest innovation: the Pop.Up, an autonomous flying car. The Pop.Up is composed of three parts: a terrain module, the two-passenger cabin, and the quadcopter. The Pop.Up will be available on a per-trip basis and can be rented on a mobile app. The app will determine if driving or flying will be quicker and act according. Airbus hopes to make use of unused urban airspace as well as make transportation quicker and more efficient. DO YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY? innovationAvec-Plaisir enables individuals with food allergies to find allergy-friendly restaurants around town. The majority of restaurants in France do not have allergy-free menus. This is a huge problem for people who need gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free or other allergen-free food. Avec-Plaisir is working with restaurants to educate them on proper food handling for allergies. The AlephBot takes sensory information from the emergency room and combines it with the patient’s history and medical records in order to make instantaneous recommendations.
